I think we would all agree that the changes we have seen, and the things we have witnessed since 2020, have brought on some complicated and unusual challenges for many people.

As we are trying to navigate through life, we often do so with the weight of anxiety, stress, and uncertainty of the future on our shoulders.

As Christians, our faith in God and his sovereignty gives us a safe place spiritually, mentally, and emotionally to address our concerns.  We use biblical affirmations to build us up when we feel the most torn down and when our faith is at its weakest point.

We also sometimes turn to world leaders, thought provokers and artists for positivity quotes to keep us motivated during challenging times.

Our faith works a lot like our muscles.  They can feel strong and flexible one minute, but feel weak and stiff the next.

Just as a muscle that is cramping in our bodies, having our faith muscles working overtime during difficult times can have us at our wit's end.  Unfortunately, it can have us contemplating thoughts of giving up too.

Our muscles and our faith can get weary from carrying heavy loads.  However, before any heavy lifting or exercise… we should stretch to keep our muscles flexible, strong, and healthy.  Stretching our faith does the same thing.

Trials and tests are ways in which we experience the “stretching of our faith.” But it is also good for us because we get to experience the faithfulness of God in a way that we haven't experienced before.

Biblical affirmations help us place our faith in a faithful God and double down our efforts to continue believing.  They also remind us that the Lord has our best interests at heart.

We may be stretched to our limits, but placing our faith in the Lord enables us to come back stronger, wiser, and better able to manage pressure.

Just like weightlifting and resistance training, as you complete a certain level, you can move to the next level.  The previous level doesn’t feel like much resistance anymore.

As our faith grows, things that had us stressed out or gave us anxiety yesterday don't bother us as much today.  It’s important to affirm this faith daily… it’s not a sin if don’t with the purest of hearts and intentions. You can read all about it from a Christian perspective here.

Why Affirmations Are Important to Strengthen our Faith

Positive affirmations are like a rock or concrete slab upon which a house or building is erected.  They keep us grounded, solid, and focused on good and positive things rather than negativity.

For instance, positive biblical affirmations help us focus on our blessings rather than what we feel is missing out of life. In addition, they help us find joy in the coziness of our current home, though we may desire something larger.

Biblical affirmations can also help us continue believing God to bring us out of toxic work environments or restore broken relationships.

Negativity is like building a house on quicksand. Not only will the house not stand, but it will also take us under. In addition, negativity can bring about feelings that make us emotional and often unstable. Positive biblical affirmations give us strength and stamina to keep moving forward in hope and boldness rather than in fear and timidity.

Philippians 4:6-8 sums this up nicely.  “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing.  Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude.  Tell him every detail of your life.”

Verse 7,then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ.”

Verse 8, “Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable, and admirable, beautiful, and respectful, pure, and holy, merciful, and kind.  And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.”

Positive biblical affirmations help us stay fastened to God's word as our lifeline, which keeps us from sinking personally in our careers and relationships.
