Are you familiar with the Myers-Briggs Type Personality Indicator Test?

It is a thorough personality test developed by Isabel Myers and her mother, Katherine Briggs.  The test was created based on their work with Swiss psychologist Carl Jung’s theory on personalities.

The nature of the test is to assign our personalities into one or more of 16 different categories, one of the more common of which is the INFP personality.

The INFP personalities look to make the world a better place to live and see how they fit in it. In addition, they are people who look for self-empowerment and how to better themselves.

INFP personality types also look to help others.  Moreover, they are also people who seek to find their life's purpose and think of ways that their gifts, talents, and resources can be a blessing to humanity.

Maybe you are saying, “This sounds a lot like my personality.”? If so, you can check it out for yourself and see what personality type you are.  It is possible to have traits of more than one.

The INFP Personality Type

More of the characteristics of the INFP personality type are the following:

  • They tend to be introverts who are quiet and reserved by nature.  INFP personality types prefer small groups rather than large crowds.  They are most comfortable around close friends and having intimate conversations.  INFP Personality types feel drained when having to open up in public social settings.  They aren't often shy, but thrive on being alone.
  • INFP personality types focus more on the big picture than on the small details of matters.  In addition, they can be ultra-focused when it comes to projects that they are passionate about.  Yet, they still ignore the boring, mundane parts of the project.
  • This personality type focuses more on their feeling or intuition when making decisions rather than listening or following information gathered objectively.
  • INFPs tend to be slow in making decisions, which is often related to their personal values, not to logic and reasoning when they do.  However, they usually like to keep their options open if something about the situation changes.

Strengths and Weaknesses of the INFP Personality Type
