Some of the most challenging times in life, mentally and emotionally, are during times of transition.  When one door closes, you are thrust into a time of new beginnings.  This is when you go through a whirlwind of feelings.

You may be sad because one door is closing, and you feel nostalgic for what once was and the people you will miss while also being excited about the possibilities ahead.

Of course, there are times when you say good riddance to the past and throw caution to the wind, and the momentum of life propels you forward.

And then there are times when a door closes against your will, and a time of new beginnings is unavoidable. This can leave you disappointed and unsure of yourself or the ground you walk on.

You're at a crossroads; the stop light is green, and people are honking their horns, telling you that a decision has to be made, but you don't know whether to go straight, turn left, or right.

No matter the situation, there is peace and hope in knowing God is with you as you step into the place called the UNKNOWN. In this article, we hope to give you courage as you look at 27 bible verses about new beginnings. But first, we will break down its meaning for more clarity.

What Are New Beginnings?

A new beginning is a fresh start. No matter how it comes about. It’s like starting over from scratch, but with the knowledge and wisdom you gained from past experiences.  New beginnings come with a new perspective on life.

You step into a new season of life with a sense of what you want and don’t want in your future. The things of the past that didn’t work, the people and relationships that were toxic for you, and the bad habits and perspectives of the past can be left behind.

New beginnings can be a time of self-discovery. Goals, plans, dreams, and passions of the past may have been suppressed in the past, but this new period is a time to rediscover those things.

Dust off those visions you had for your life and start anew. Now, you can make the right choices, connect with the right people, and really begin to live again.

When you are blessed with a new beginning, there are a few things you need to do to set yourself up for success:

  • Release the past.
  • Remember that change can be a good thing.
  • Set new goals.
  • Look for a change of community to be around people who help you be better, not pull you down.
  • Pray and meditate on scripture regularly for mind renewal and spiritual growth.
  • Embrace new opportunities.
  • Develop (new) good habits.
  • Practice gratitude and grace toward others.
  • Make time to relax and regroup.
  • Lean on the wisdom of a life coach or mentor.
  • Celebrate successes, no matter how small.

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.  The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.” — Joseph Campbell.

In Luke 5:37-38 Jesus tells His disciples, “No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the new [fermenting] wine will [expand and] burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.”

In Jesus's day, the wine had to be put into new wineskins.  So when the wine begins to ferment and emits gases (which causes the wineskin to expand), the wineskin is still flexible and can handle the change.

Old wineskins have already been stretched and hardened, making them unable to expand if new wine were poured in.  The same goes for life.

To truly expand, grow, and ferment into the best versions of ourselves (like fermented wine), we must be in an environment that will allow for that expansion and personal growth

We have all been in situations where our talent was wasted and ideas overlooked.  That is how it feels to put new wine into an old wineskin.

The skin busts, and we waste what we have to offer around others unwilling or unable to accept us.  Which can significantly hurt our self-confidence.  But we must remember, we weren't in the right place that can handle this version of us.

So, please don't hold on to the past; it doesn't serve you anymore and doesn't accommodate the new person you are striving to be.

You have felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole long enough. Step out of your comfort zone and pack your bags for the unknown of new beginnings.

As promised, here are 27 bible inspiring bible verses about new beginnings.

Final Thoughts on Bible Verses About New Beginnings

Regardless of how your new beginnings come about, don’t throw away the experiences of the past just because they were unfavorable.

Even when applying for a new job, a company asks about your previous work experiences… because all experiences of the past are factored into the person you are now.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”

So, in the past, we saw trauma; God sees our resilience. We saw anger and frustration; God sees our patience. We saw a disappointing end; God saw a glorious new beginning full of endless possibilities.

I know the new is unfamiliar and uncertain. In fact, it can be stressful, uncomfortable, and, in many cases, doesn't make sense to us or those on the outside looking in.

But we must unshackle ourselves from the comfort of the familiar and trust God as we enter our time of new beginnings. Remember, He is deeply concerned about us.

When we submit to His plan for our lives, our new season becomes the best season for our growth, progress, fulfillment, and purpose.
